Bali's tourism industry to target domestic market
DENPASAR (indo.com): Bali's tourism industry will target
to domestic market following the Bali's October 12 bombings.
Tourism industry leaders has agreed to undertake an aggressive
marketing campaign to target domestic market, with domestic
arrivals being targeted at 5 million, equivalent to 5%
of the countries total population.
Indonesia's Minister of Culture and Tourism, I Gede Ardika
has said that Bali is expected to see full recovery in
2004.
He said that the next three months would be dedicated
to industry rescue efforts, the first six months of 2003
for rehabilitation, and the last half of next year for
normalization efforts.
Restoring international market confidence on Bali a safe,
secure and attractive tourism destination is the central
theme of the respective phases.
The minister had also a meeting with tourism industry
leaders to discuss a number of issues arising from the
October 12th bomb attack in Legian-Kuta. The issues discussed
at the meeting include a repositioning of the Bali travel
product, the handling of information, and a plan to undertake
the road shows. Those all cases are within the context
of empathetic steps to restore Bali's positive public
image.
