Tetekan and Calonarang dance to be performed in GWK
DENPADAR (indo.com): Traditional Balinese Tetekan and
Calonarang dance will be performed at the Garuda Wisnu
Kencana Cultural Park (GWK), Jimbaran - Bali on Wednesday
September 10, 2003. The one-and-a-half performance will
be held at GWK's amphitheater.
The performance tells the epic of eternal battle between
goodness and badness.
The Tektekan is a traditional Balinese music that uses
bamboo instruments. The sounds produced by bamboo musical
instrument are frequently associated with acts of exorcism.
The music is believed to draw inspiration from magical
powers and is performed when the human race are suffering
from natural disaster. While, Calong Arang is a Balinese
traditional sacred trance dance repertoire.
Money collected from the performance will be used to
finance the renovation of Taman Amertha Temple. The temple
is located at Bauriti Village, Kerambitan - Tabanan Regency.
The ticket is priced at Rp100.000 for VIP's adults and
Rp50.000 for VIP's students. Regular tickets are available
for Rp50.000 for adults and Rp25.000 for students.
