The cowardice and horrible terrorist act in Bali is an attack on the civilized society and the way we live our normal lives. If World Trade Center attacks the nerve of business and financial world, the bombing in Bali is an attack on the world of leisure, the world of international travel and global interactions that have become an inseparable part of our daily lives.

Don't let the terrorists win. Stopping with our daily life activities means succumbing to the fear they want to instill in our lives; stopping our travel means we surrender our freedom to the horrible acts of a few lunatics. Just as the world of business did not stop with the attacks on World Trade Center, just as the financial world did not stop with these terrorist actions, neither should we stop to travel!

Don't let terrorists ruin our day!

How can we tell these terrorists that we are not afraid? How can we tell them off?
We propose to have a Bali Global Wake Party - to tell the world that our lifestyle of leisure, our lifestyle of international travel and global interactions will not be destroyed by their coward acts!

Here is the idea:

• The Global Wake Party is to be held in Kuta, Bali on Dec 12th, 2002 - 2 months after the bombing.
  
• We will have a Balinese ceremony of prayers for the victims and the families of the victims
  
• We will have an all night party - Sari Club and Paddy Café's style of music - in memory of the victims

How can we make this happen?
I would like to propose an global collaboration on the Internet to make this happen:

First, we need volunteers. Drop me a note if you would like to volunteer for this event.

Second, we need government support. All governments who have now issued travel warnings, please, please, please, reconsider! Banning people from traveling to Bali will hurt one large group of the very victims directly: the tens of thousands of cooks, bartenders, hotel janitors, cab drivers, and their families - some already lost their loved ones on Legian Street.

Dear netters - please send a note to your government - NOT TO BAN PEOPLE from traveling to Bali and other destinations in the world… Click here for the list of top government officers that you can send email to, or if you know others to whom we should send an email about this, please email me and I will list their names and email addresses here.

Please, we also need your support for things like permits for the event, security for the event, your very presence. Madam Megawati, will you lead the Balinese ceremony of prayers? Mr. Prime Minister Howard, will you grace the memory of the victims with your presence? Mr. President Bush, will you stand with us on the sandy beach of Kuta and tell the world that the civilized world will not lose their business nor their leisure way of lives to terrorist acts?

Third, we need airlines support. Here is the idea: 50% discount for travel from anywhere you are flying from to Bali for the Global Wake Party. Dear netters - please ask your country's airlines to offer this. Here are a few contacts: Singapore Airlines, (feedback Singapore Airlines), JAL, Lufthansa, KLM, Korean Air, Canada Air, Phillipine Airlines, Brunei Airlines, United Airlines

For US Airlines, would you offer even deeper discount (or better yet, FREE) for airline tickets to travel to Bali to all relatives of the victims of World Trade Center to travel to Bali? We will talk to Bali hotels to provide their accommodations…

Fourth, we need hotels support. If your hotels in Bali (or in other parts of Indonesia) would like to help and support: 2 nights free with 2 nights paying.

Fifth, celebrities of the world. We need your support for this event. Kylie Minoque, would you come and sing a song for your fellow countrymen who have lost their lives in Bali? David Bowie, Mick Jagger and all of you who love Bali - will you help the people of Bali regain their pride and livelihood? Netters, please send these requests to your favorite stars….
