Bali to hold environmental conference
DENPASAR (indo.com): Bali has been chosen as the location
for a national conference on environmental sustainability
on June 5, 2003.
Representatives of the Indonesian work force, such as
fishermen, foresters, farmers as well as members of the
national cabinet of Indonesia will attend the conference.
As a follow up to the World Summit on Sustainable Development
held in South Africa earlier this year, the national environmental
summit intends to map out how the Indonesian economy can
operate on an environmentally self-sustaining basis.
The Minister of Indonesia's State for the Environment,
Nabiel Makarim, said that President Megawati Soekarno
Putri and the Vice President will attend in this meeting.
