Indonesia & Australia to cooperate against terrorists

DENPASAR (indo.com): Indonesian and Australian Police have agreed to cooperate on efforts to fight against international terrorists.

Indonesia Police Chief Da'i Bachtiar met Commissioner Mick Keelty of Australia Federal Police (AFP) in Kuta, Bali on December 16, 2002.

Bachtiar said that co-operation was needed to destroy the terrorism network in the world, especially with Australia, one of Indonesia's closest neighbors. It was added that AFP was very helpful in identifying the victims of the Bali bombing.

Meanwhile, Mick Meelty said that recent successes in arresting the bomb suspects must not make the level of security decline. AFP will meet with chemicals companies to talk about control over chemical material applications.

The Australian Police is also appreciative of the Indonesian security system, which has enforced the 911 system for emergency security in Bali.
