'Natural beauty of Kintamani must be protected'

DENPASAR (indo.com): The Regent of Bangli has expressed concern over the uncontrolled development of commercial facilities, such as restaurants in Kintamani, saying that the beauty of Kintamani with its Batur Lake must be protected.

Bangli Regent Nengah Arnawa said that the uncontrolled construction of restaurants will have a negative effect on the natural beauty of Kintamani, Batur Lake and its surrounding areas. It will also pose a threat to the existence of Kintamani as one of Bali's top tourist destinations.

He said that the uncontrolled construction of commercial buildings due to the lack of building controls has resulted in the appearance of restaurants that distract the sight of majestic volcano and its stunning lake.

Arnawa has called for a detailed survey on all existing buildings erected along the eastern side of the road in Kintamani, Bali Discovery reported. The goal is to outlaw any new developments on the eastern side of the roadway.

The regent said that steps must be taken to protect the existence of Kintamani as a tourist destination in Bali.
