Exhibition by Brazilian woman artist in Ubud
DENPASAR
(indo.com): Top Brazilian women painters Claudia Simoes
and Rubens Matuck are displaying their art works at the
Santra Putra Fine Art Gallery, Penestanan Kaja, Ubud from
July 4 through 25, 2001.
The exhibits are framed in the traditional style of Balinese
carvings, reflecting their interest in Balinese style,
and more particularly, in carving itself.
The artists have exhibited their works in China, Thailand,
Africa, Europe, USA and various countries in South America.
They chose Ubud for the exhibition because they think
that many local and foreign artists have produced valuable
artworks there.
Ubud is a remarkable town in the middle of the island,
surrounded by most of the things that bring people to
Bali - scenic rice fields, small villages, art and craft
communities, ancient temples, palaces, rivers, cheap accommodation
and unique luxury hotels. Its central location makes it
easy to get from Ubud to the mountains, beaches, and major
towns.
The works of Claudia and Rubens reflect culture, religion,
and the spirit of places that they have visited and subsequently
transformed into paper oil paintings. Claudia Simoes is
an artist who cares deeply about nature, and she always
outside in order to be able to interact with nature. Rubens
Matuck uses acrylic media on paper.
Travellers to Ubud will also have the opportunity of
viewing the best works by young local painter Ni Nyoman
Sani. The artist is displaying his works in the Seniwati
Showcase on Jl. Raya Ubud. The exhibition commenced in
early July will run through July 30, 2001, with 'Faces'
as its theme.
Nyoman Sani started his profession as a painter when
he was 18 years old. In 1995, he continued his further
study at the Indonesian Arts College in Denpasar, Bali.
