Sailing through tropical islands in search of surf is fantasy that every surfer must have dreamed of. The attractions are obvious - total flexibility and freedom to travel wherever the conditions combine to produce the best surf. The region for this surf adventure boast a range of world class waves that work on varied conditions maximizing the potential for good surf. Lombok' Desert Point is a long, hollow left which on its day, rivals any waves in Indonesia for the length of makeable tubes and sheer speed. The coast of west Sumbawa is dotted with a series of quality breaks. First is Scar Reef, an intense left-hand tube. Next is Super Suck, another hollow left which seems to spit the surfer from one open tube section to the next. The area's most reliable surf is found in a bay known as Yo Yo's with two consistent right-handers. When we depart the west coast of Sumbawa, we have a wide range of bays along the south coast of Lombok that produce quality left and right hand reef and beach breaks when conditions are right. The game fishing in this area is also excellent.
Our itinerary covers a variety of breaks and there include the infamous One Palm Point, one of the most perfect and intense waves in Indonesia... and many more breaks so recently discover that as yet they're not named.
We can arrange you flights from Bali to the town of Kupang in Timor where your tour commences and you are met at the airport and transferred to the harbor. your trip begins with an evening sail down the northern coast of Roti. This leg of the journey leads us to one of Timor's most consistent waves. Just to the south of Roti is the island of Dana, another great left when winds are right. Fishing is superb throughout this area. Weather permitting it is an overnight sail to the island of Rai Jua, where two left handers are located on the very south west corner of the island. If the tradewind's are too strong, this leg of the journey is impractical and the Captain will determine if this is feasible. from Rai Jua it is possible to sail to Dana Two, which is open to swell, with a great left-hander and excellent fishing. From Dana it is an 80 mile trip back to Roti, or sail directly to Kupang. |
