Bali Tourism Recovery
DENPASAR (indo.com): Minister of Culture and Tourism,
I Gede Ardika, concluded a four day visit to Australia
during the week of February 16, 2003, describing his visit
as a major stepping stone to success in Bali's tourism
recovery.
The minister visited Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra and
met with local leaders of tourism, aviation, government,
and the media. The minister briefed them on Indonesia's
progress in recovery efforts and to detail them on what
Indonesia has done to improve security in the wake of
the bomb attack on October 12 last year.
I Gede Ardika said that the people were very impressed
with the measures that have been taken to improve safety
and security and there is a coordinated effort by the
tourism industry and airlines with the support of the
Australian Government to revive tourism industry in Bali.
A report said that Australia gave full support to the
ongoing recovery efforts.
The feeling of goodwill is present everywhere that leads
to the increasing number of tourist arrivals to Bali in
2003.
A week after Minister's visit to Australia, a delegation
of ranking representatives from the Australian tourism
industry will visit Bali within the context of increasing
tourist arrivals to the island.
