Bali to display works by women artists of different nationalities
DENPASAR (indo.com): The Seniwati Gallery of arts by
women in Ubud, Bali, will display works by women artists
residing in the Island of Paradise, with the
theme "Mother and Daughter". The exhibition,
the fourth annual group show, will run from December 1
through December 30, 2001.
The
exhibition follows previous shows with the themes "Women
After
Women", "Women on Women" and "Women
Seeing Men". The content is
expected to be a wonderful mix of both traditional and
modern, Balinese and
foreign. The works on display will also be on sale.
The upcoming exhibition will focus on works displaying
the relationships between the generations of women and
asking this talented group of artists to express their
feelings and attitudes towards women as mothers and daughters,
according to whatever is the object of their interest.
Seniwati Director Mary Northmore explained that the aim
of the exhibition is to highlight one of humanity's most
important and meaningful relationships. The transfer of
regeneration flows through mothers to their daughters,
down through the ages and across continents and eras.
