More flight services offered
JAKARTA (indo.com): The National flight carrier Garuda
Indonesia and Merpati Nusantara Airlines will provide
extra flights, with almost 4,000 additional seats being
offered in anticipation of the jump in the number of passengers
who will celebrate Idul Fitri, Christmas and New Year
holidays.
PT Garuda Indonesia's Director for Business Affairs Bachrul
Hakim said that the airline will provide 36,507 extra
seats in the coming extra flights, or a 23.2% increase
from the previous year.
"Garuda Indonesia will see an increasing flight
frequency of 134. 86 of these are extra flights and another
48 will be undertaken by operating wider aircraft,"
he was quoted by Antara as saying.
The extra domestic flights will service Jakarta, Yogyakarta,
Solo, Semarang, Denpasar, Padang, Surabaya, Makassar,
Manado, Batam and Palembang. Extra flights for international
routes will include Singapore, Sydney, Auckland, Melbourne
and Brisbane.
The Garuda Indonesia's extra flights will run from December
13, 2001 until January 7, 2002. Merpati will begin its
extra flight services on December 8, 2001.
Merpati Airlines' Corporate Affairs General Manager Imam
Turudy said that the company will provide extra flight
frequency of 72, providing 3,100 seats for particular
flights routes, including Jakarta, Balikpapan, Surabaya,
Tarakan, Bandung, Denpasar, Batam and Padang.
