Star-studded New Year in Bali

DENPASAR (indo.com): A star-studded list of top Indonesian and international entertainers celebrated the start of 2003, auguring better times to come for the people of Bali.

The East West Collaboration in Peace and the People's Party was a special evening of entertainment at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park on Monday, December 30th. Local and foreign artists such as Phil Perry, Dave Koz, Jeff Lorber, Brenda Russel, Ruth Sayanaya, Slank, and other Indonesian artists performed at the concert.

On New Year's Eve the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, was in Bali to announce 2003 as the year of peace and anti-violence at the New Year celebrations on Kuta Beach. Foreign visitors and locals alike are united in their wish to see Bali return to normal as soon as possible, and for countries to lift their travel bans on the island.
