Top painter Nyoman Gunarso launches new book
DENPASAR (indo.com): I Nyoman Gunarsa, Balinese impressionist
painter and museum curator, has launched a new book entitled
Jatayu Sang Maestro, Nyoman Gunarsa, Water, Colour dan
Sketsa in conjunction with the celebration of the 10th
anniversary of Museum I Nyoman Gunarsa in Banda Village
- Klungkung Regency.
The book written in English, German and bahasa, portrays
a collection of Gunarsa's latest works.
The programs include the presentation of awards to members
of Bali's community involved in cultural development and
a colossal multi-media cultural performance.
Students of the Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) performed
a colossal dance and music. They employed the use of laser
effects and fireworks, enlivening the museum's 10 anniversary
celebration.
The commemmoration also featured a solo painting exhibition
by Nyoman Gunarso at the museum. The exhibition kicked
off on January 16, 2004 and will run through January 30,
2004.
At least 101 works produced between 1996-2003 are on
display. The works trace Gunarsa's struggle to return
to his art and his inner-spiritual journey to achieve
the Hindu state of moksa (a limitless freedom).
