Aussie artist display works in Bali
DENPASAR (indo.com): Australian painter Kerry Pendergrast
is currently displaying her works in pastel at the Seniwati
Gallery in Ubud, Bali. The exhibition with theme 'Views
and Gardens' will run through October 31, 2001.
The
exhibition marks a news direction for Kerry Pendergrast
in which she diverts usual figurative works to outdoor
scenes. Most of her works are created in Bali, Lombok
and Australia. The works display sceneries in those places.
These vibrant pastel pieces feature delicate and colored
line that unifies the composition and reflects the freshness
of creating on the spot. The focus is on the intricate
details and the intimacy of the near to middle distance,
a sense of human proportions, while reflecting glorious,
tropical lushness.
Kerry Pendergrast has lived in Bali for around 8 years.
He is married to an Indonesian and has two children. She
organizes model sessions and jointly runs Pranoto's Art
Gallery with her husband. She has also been active in
the Seniwati Gallery. Born in Perth, Australia in 1963,
Kerry studied theater arts and literature at University.
She also pursued a career in music that she keeps continuing
in Bali. She displayed her works, an acrylic and line
drawing in 1998.
