Putu Antara elected as new BTB chairman
DENPASAR (indo.com): The Bali Tourism Board (BTB) has elected
Putu Antara as chairman of the board for 2002 to 2005.
Putu Antara won the ballot with 14 votes over his two
rivals, I.B. Ngurah Wijaya with 12 votes and Al Purwa
with one vote.
The election was held at the Radisson Hotel, in Sanur
on Friday, March 2, 2002, and was attended by stake holders
of the BTB, including the PHRI (the Indonesian Hotel and
Restaurant Association), ASITA (Association of the Indonesian
Tours & Travel Agencies), Sipco, Gahawisri, HPI (Indonesian
Entrepreneurs Association), PATA, Bali Chapter, Putri,
Pawiba and Bali Village.
Observers said that all candidates were appropriate for
the development of Bali Tourism. In his presentation,
Al Purwa emphasized the need to develop the quality of
human resources. Wijaya focused on three main points:
re-evaluation, continuous Cultural Tourism, and the re-positioning
of Bali in the world-wide tourism market. Meanwhile, Antara
stressed the importance of 'working hard' to keep Bali
tourism alive.
PHRI Bali Chairman, I Gde Wiratha expressed the hope
that the new chief of BTB would be able to consolidate
himself against partiality.
